There are so many different lighting options out there for those who are looking to get just the right look with their space. If you know exactly what you are looking for, this can be a good thing. On the other hand, if you are not entirely sure as to what it is you want in lighting, then you might want to consider pendant lighting for your home. This type of lighting is great for those with a unique personality or taste in design, as it brings a unique quality all its own to your home. If you have never heard of it before, chances are that you haven't seen it either because a pendant is exactly what it looks like.
There is however one drawback. Most of these lights are designed to push light directly on to the space you want lit. Generally, they are more spot light in nature. And while there are some pendants that disperse light over a wide area, if this is your goal you may need to look elsewhere. Or better still, use a different fixture to disperse light, and use a pendant to highlight certain areas of the room. In most cases, but certainly not all, pendant lights will not be your sole source of light in a room.
Most pendant lighting fixtures are available with chains and rods that enable adaptation for different heights. Multiple pendant lights in a single fixture at staggered heights create a dramatic effect and are ideal for use little corners of large rooms. This kind of lighting creates an interesting area in an otherwise ordinary room.
