The two basic shapes in which pendant lights are designed, are conical and dome-shaped. Cone shaped pendant lights provide directional lighting, and can be used to focus on a particular area or piece of furniture, although the light is much brighter in that particular area, these lights fail to light large space.
In accordance with the style and theme of your room you may choose from traditional, contemporary, transitional and Tiffany pendant lighting fixtures. All these varieties provide elegance, clean cuts, bold lines and architectural superiority. However, it is better not to mistake pendant lighting with chandelier lighting. The former generally hung from a single sconce on the ceiling and sprouts a single chain or metal tube from there.
With pendant light fixtures, achieving all of this is easy. You would have to determine the right height of the bottom of the fixture at every location that you would install the lights. And once you figure that out, you shall have to fit your pendant at the corresponding heights. In this context, it helps to note that if you want the light to spread around, then fixing the light high-up helps. On the other hand, if you want better focus on particular locations such as in the study table example, fit the bottom of the fixture at relatively lesser heights.
