With pendant light fixtures, achieving all of this is easy. You would have to determine the right height of the bottom of the fixture at every location that you would install the lights. And once you figure that out, you shall have to fit your pendant at the corresponding heights. In this context, it helps to note that if you want the light to spread around, then fixing the light high-up helps. On the other hand, if you want better focus on particular locations such as in the study table example, fit the bottom of the fixture at relatively lesser heights.
You will, of course, choose your new light to match your existing dcor and, whether that is traditional or funky, you will find something to suit.
Whatever type of light fitting you‘re thinking of purchasing, you should take time to think about the effect you‘re hoping to achieve, and this means taking into account the size of the space you are planning to illuminate as well as the rest of the dcor. It‘s common sense, after all, that if you’re lighting, say, a narrow hallway, you’ll need a smaller fitting than if you were lighting a large lounge or dining room. In fact, in the larger space you will need more than one pendant to prevent casting ugly shadows.
