The two basic shapes in which pendant lights are designed, are conical and dome-shaped. Cone shaped pendant lights provide directional lighting, and can be used to focus on a particular area or piece of furniture, although the light is much brighter in that particular area, these lights fail to light large space.
They‘re also found in the game room, perhaps over a billiards table. If they‘re over a gaming table, they can hang a bit lower than in a kitchen. Same as if installed at a work space. You want enough light from the pendants so they should be installed closer to the table.
With pendant light fixtures, achieving all of this is easy. You would have to determine the right height of the bottom of the fixture at every location that you would install the lights. And once you figure that out, you shall have to fit your pendant at the corresponding heights. In this context, it helps to note that if you want the light to spread around, then fixing the light high-up helps. On the other hand, if you want better focus on particular locations such as in the study table example, fit the bottom of the fixture at relatively lesser heights.
